Waynesburg University Associate Professor of Chemistry Dr. Bradley Davis attended the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon) over spring break in Boston with six current students and two recent graduates.
Dr. Davis served as this year's Technical Program Chair for Pittcon and oversaw the submission, review and acceptance of over 1,000 oral and poster abstracts. He was also responsible for organizing and introducing the conference’s keynote lecturer, Dr. Cato T. Laurencin of the University of Connecticut, who is a pioneer in regenerative engineering.
The following students attended the conference as Student Aides and helped to staff the event:
- Kiana Bagnell (Biomedical Science/Biochemistry)
- Riley Ellis (Pharmaceutical Science)
- Reagan Mittendorf (Forensic Science)
- Marah Pegram (Forensic Chemistry)
- Mya Riggle (Forensic Chemistry)
- DaGyn Williams (Chemistry)
When not volunteering, the students were able to attend the technical program, explore the exposition, and take part in professional development opportunities such as short courses and networking sessions. These current students were joined by two recent graduates as well, Tiffany Burkett (Forensic Chemistry ’24) and Haley Ferricks (Chemistry ’23), who also volunteered their time and efforts to the mission of the conference.
