Accreditations, Approvals and Licensures
Waynesburg University is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Waynesburg University underwent its formal accreditation review as conducted by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, as a follow up to their on-site visit April 7-10, 2024.
MSCHE has informed Waynesburg University that it is in compliance on six out of seven Standards for Accreditation. On July 1, 2024, Waynesburg University received formal notice that the Commission concluded that it did not present sufficient evidence of compliance with Standard V (Educational Effectiveness Assessment).
Waynesburg University is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) www.msche.org. Waynesburg University’s accreditation status is Non-Compliance Warning. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on July 1, 2024 was to warn. MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
Waynesburg University remains accredited. MSCHE may take action to revise the University’s status on Standard V, assessing educational effectiveness, following an update that the University will provide to MSCHE in March 2025. The University has already begun revisions to its assessment practices and is committed to meeting all of the MSCHE Standards for Accreditation.
Education

Nursing
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has approval status through the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, the master's degree program in nursing, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Waynesburg University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.
Counseling
The Master of Arts in Addiction Counseling, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and Ph.D. Counselor Education and Supervision programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP), 1001 North Fairfax St., Suite 510, Alexandria, VA 22314; (703.535.5990). This specialized accrediting agency, recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, grants accredited status to graduate-level programs in the professional counseling field. This recognition provides assurance to the public and higher education institutions that CACREP is a legitimate accreditor with authority granted by a regulating body who has reviewed the standards, processes, and policies of CACREP. In addition, the Addictions Counseling specialization is approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB).
IACBE Accredited
The Department of Business Administration at Waynesburg University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas, USA.

Athletic Training
The Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3184, (512.733.9700).
Chemistry
The Chemistry Program is approved by the American Chemical Society.

National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA)
Waynesburg University is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) which permits us to provide distance learning programs (online and supervised field experiences) and coursework to residents of states other than Pennsylvania. NC-SARA membership does not grant reciprocity or exempt us from state professional licensing requirements. Therefore, licensing requirements in Pennsylvania may not be recognized as sufficient to obtain a license in any other state. Please carefully review the licensing requirements in the state in which you intend to obtain a license.
