Hello to the Chemistry and Forensic Science Department! I'm Christina Baker, a 2021 graduate with a B.S. in Forensic Science. I'm currently an Associate Scientist at AstraZeneca in Maryland, where I've worked for over two years in an electrophoresis lab. My role involves using assays like cIEF, CGE, and CZE to provide characterization data for drug studies and clinical trials. I've had the chance to cross-train in various areas, further my personal and professional development, and attend scientific conferences.
You might wonder how a forensics graduate ended up in biopharmaceuticals—believe me, I wondered too! My time at Waynesburg University helped me grow as a scientist, not just in forensics. The hands-on experience with instrumentation in chemistry classes was invaluable, aiding job interviews and applications. My forensics classes taught me about documentation, essential for transitioning into a GMP lab where proper paperwork is crucial.
