On February 27, 2025, the Purpose & Leadership Academy (PLA) proudly sponsored Future Professionals' Day, an event made possible through the collaboration of the Pathways Center, the Design Club and the "Success in a Nutshell" Leadership Series. Together, these partners created a day filled with valuable opportunities for Waynesburg University students. The event featured a variety of activities, including mock interviews, personal development workshops, an etiquette luncheon and a keynote presentation from a representative of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The day began with mock interviews led by University alumni and community leaders. The PLA and Pathways Center were deeply grateful to the 12 volunteers that took the time to join us on campus and meet with students. A total of 31 students participated in these mock interviews, gaining valuable insight and experience. Additionally, Samantha Pete, academic services coordinator in the Pathways Center, led a Resume, Cover Letter & Professional Dress Workshop, which was attended by 12 students.
The Design Club facilitated two development workshops designed to help students enhance their personal brands. These sessions included complimentary professional headshots and a business card creation workshop. A total of 47 students took advantage of the headshot session, while five students attended the business card workshop.

The PLA hosted an etiquette luncheon led by Interim Provost, Mindy Walls. The interactive session on proper table manners in a professional setting was attended by 38 members of the Waynesburg University community. Participants were treated to a complimentary meal, received an etiquette book and enjoyed a dining experience designed to prepare them for future opportunities.
To conclude Future Professionals' Day, Mr. Joe Lofton, Football and Fan Development Manager for the Pittsburgh Steelers, delivered a keynote presentation in Alumni Hall. The PLA and "Success in a Nutshell" Leadership Series invited Mr. Lofton to share his personal leadership journey and engaged 82 students, faculty and staff members in the discussion.
Overall, Future Professionals' Day provided an abundance of opportunities for Waynesburg University students to grow both personally and professionally.

PLA events are funded with grant monies from the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE). NetVUE is administered by the Council of Independent Colleges with generous support from Lilly Endowment Inc.
