The Waynesburg University Music Program’s jazz ensemble will present a fall concert on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Roberts Chapel.
The jazz ensemble, directed by Jeremy Olisar, is one of the group music performance options available in the Music Program. The ensemble meets weekly in the evening to prepare one concert each semester. Students immerse themselves in the American art form of jazz music, learning swing, bop and funk styles while incorporating music theory and improvisation.
Waynesburg University’s Music Program offers students a variety of group instrumental performance opportunities under the close guidance of faculty to help them hone their skills and meet their career goals. These groups include the Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Kiltie Band and jazz ensemble, as well as woodwinds, brass, guitar and percussion small ensembles.
