“The Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science is excited to offer the Haunted Lab to the Waynesburg local community again this year,” said Dr. Evonne Baldauff, chairperson for the Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science. “We hope that families will stop by to let their kids explore a wide variety of science activities.”
This year’s Haunted Lab will feature activities on health and medicine hosted by University students and will coincide with the 2023 theme of National Chemistry Week, “The Healing Power of Chemistry.” National Chemistry Week, which will be held this year from Oct. 15 through Oct. 21, occurs annually to promote the importance of chemistry in society.
Every year, the University’s ACS Student Chapter is recognized for its community outreach efforts, like the Haunted Lab. Other efforts organized by the Chapter include the “Chemistry for the Future” event held for high school students to learn more about careers in chemistry and a laboratory program for local homeschool students.
