The partnership established between Waynesburg University and certified public accounting firm Schneider Downs & Co., Inc. has continued to offer opportunities for Waynesburg students looking to enter the public accounting field.
The partnership between Schneider Downs and Waynesburg University has given our students invaluable experiences in the tax and audit professions, which cannot be duplicated in the classroom."
Fully launched in 2023 as part of the University’s WU Talent Network Pilot Project, two to three students have had the chance to intern at Schneider Downs each summer, with the majority receiving full-time employment offers at the conclusion of their internships.
"The partnership between Schneider Downs and Waynesburg University has given our students invaluable experiences in the tax and audit professions, which cannot be duplicated in the classroom,” said William Stough, program director for the Master of Business Administration program and associate professor of Business Administration. “They are getting real-world experience with a major regional accounting firm which also helps launch their careers."
This past summer, accounting majors Rachel Baily and Ryheem Dove and forensic accounting major Eric Burcham interned at the firm.
Students are identified for the program by members of the University’s Department of Business Administration faculty. From there, eligible students are interviewed by personnel at Schneider Downs for internship positions.
In order to qualify, students must be working towards 150 credit hours, which can include hours completed in the University’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, and be pursuing a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license.
