Open to current high school juniors and seniors

Matthew Stultz Sep 10, 2019

Waynesburg University will host its annual Nursing as a Career Day event Thursday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on its main campus in Waynesburg. The event is open to current junior and senior high school students interested in pursuing a career in nursing.

“Nursing as a Career day is an excellent event for students interested in nursing to come to campus and spend the day with the Nursing Department,” said Kyle DiGiandomenico, admissions counselor. “With nursing being such a high-demand career, we’re excited to welcome these students to campus and show them all the opportunities they’ll have in our program.”

The day highlights Waynesburg’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. During this visit, students will have the opportunity to interact with current students and faculty from the Department of Nursing, tour campus and enjoy lunch in the Benedum Dining Hall.

Additionally, students will experience the University’s state-of-the-art simulation lab, which provides an effective environment for students to learn and apply cognitive, psychomotor and decision-making skills for clinical practice. Attendees will also learn how Waynesburg students learn first-hand complex patient care in simulated situations.

Programs in Waynesburg’s Department of Nursing have continually been ranked for excellence and value. Most recently, the baccalaureate Nursing Program was ranked No. 2 in the state of Pennsylvania by RegisteredNursing.org for the third consecutive year.

The Nursing Program was also ranked a “Best Value” for Nursing and No. 4 out of the 500 school nursing programs considered by College Factual, placing the program in the top 1% nationwide.
