Waynesburg University is proud to announce the spring 2024 graduates of its Master of Arts in Counseling program, accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP), achieved a 100% pass rate on the National Counselor Exam (NCE). This outstanding accomplishment officially certifies these graduates towards becoming Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) in the field, highlighting their dedication and hard work within the program.
We are proud to offer in-person and online CACREP-accredited Master of Arts in Counseling programs that effectively prepare students for a successful career serving others.”
“The NCE is a requirement for licensure as a professional counselor in the majority of states, and we are proud to share that our most recent graduates achieved a 100% pass rate on this exam,” said Dr. Devon Bowser, dean of Graduate & Professional Studies and director of Graduate Counseling Programs at Waynesburg University. “We are proud to offer in-person and online CACREP-accredited Master of Arts in Counseling programs that effectively prepare students for a successful career serving others.”
Students enrolled in the 60-credit Master of Arts in Counseling program are able to focus their degree in one of two academic tracks: Clinical Mental Health Counseling or Addictions Counseling. Both concentrations provide the academic requirements needed to sit for the NCE for licensure as an LPC.
In addition, the Addictions Counseling concentration prepares graduates to meet the academic requirements for certification as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), an important credential for those seeking a career in substance use disorder (SUD) and addictions counseling in Pennsylvania.
Cohorts for the program begin every fall semester and are offered in both a traditional in-person classroom setting or 100% online. Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming fall 2025 semester.
The University recently announced it was awarded a University Workforce Development grant, supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), to address workforce shortages in SUD counseling. Through this grant, approximately 25 students enrolled in the University Workforce Development Program (UWDP) will be eligible to receive up to $32,000 in stipends and tuition.
To apply to the program, students must be enrolled in Waynesburg University’s Master of Arts in Counseling program, with preference given to those in the addiction counseling concentration and to those who reside in the state of Pennsylvania.
