Academic Updates: December 2018

Jennifer Roy (Business Administration) completed a Harvard Graduate School of Education Certificate program titled, “Instructional Moves: Making Classroom Discussions More Inclusive and Effective.”

Mindy Walls (Entrepreneurial Leadership) presented at the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers Annual Conference Nov. 19 in Chicago on incorporating the Entrepreneurial Mindset into Fiat Lux.

Adam Jack (Criminal Justice) testified as an expert witness in the area of Crime Scene Investigation/Death Scene Investigation in the death penalty trial: Commonwealth vs. Melvin Knight; Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas. Three WU CJ students attended the trial to hear Professor Jack's testimony.

Gordon McClung (Business Administration) attended the OLC Accelerate 2018 Virtual Conference Oct. 14 and 15.

Bill Stough (Business Administration) took part in the first Business School Advisory Board meeting on Oct. 22.

Kathy Stolfer (Nursing) attended the AACN Leadership Conference in Washington, DC in late October. Stolfer also attended a State Board of Nursing Orientation Meeting for New Chairpersons/Deans of Nursing in Harrisburg on Nov. 1, to learn about the most current processes and regulations.

Jessica Floyd (Nursing) was recognized as a Jonas Scholar in her Ph.D. program at West Virginia University.

Kimberly Stephens and Kimberly Whiteman (GPS Nursing) attended the 2018 Annual West Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives Fall Conference in Wheeling, West Virginia.

At the beginning of the semester, Jim Tanda (Criminal Justice) assisted in the coordination of an active shooter training at West Greene School District for over 100 employees. He helped new School Resource Officer Jared Edgreen (WU CJ grad) with the logistics of the day, including several WU CJ students acting as role players.
