Waynesburg University’s Lamplighters Touring Choir will perform a concert on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. in Roberts Chapel. The concert will feature songs that reflect Paul’s command in Romans 12:12, to be “rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.”
“Our repertoire reflects songs from the sacred choral repertoire while touching on an a cappella motet, traditional spirituals, singing of the Psalms and choral arrangements of well-known hymns and contemporary Christian songs,” said Melanie Catana, director of choral music and assistant professor of vocal music.
The song selections include the following: “If Ye Love Me,” “Ain’a That Good News,” “I Will Lift My Eyes” and an arrangement of “Gratitude.”
The Waynesburg University Lamplighters Touring Choir is a select group of singers from all majors who perform a variety of choral music. Throughout the academic year, the group rehearses twice a week, intermittently traveling to local churches to perform and rehearse for their annual concert tour in the spring, which is filled with fellowship, singing and service.
In May 2025, the touring choir plans to do a spring concert tour to Toronto, Canada.
