Waynesburg U. BSN students achieve 96.36% NCLEX exam pass rate for 2024

Waynesburg University’s Department of Nursing students recently achieved a 96.36% pass rate on the 2024 NCLEX exam, per results recently received from the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Up from 91.5% in 2023, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program had 55 first-time test takers in 2024, with 53 passing the exam on their first attempt.

“The Waynesburg University Department of Nursing recognizes the challenges faced by nursing programs and students,” said Dr. Sherry Zak, director of nursing and assistant professor of nursing at Waynesburg University. “The Nursing Department is dedicated to educating students to not only be prepared to take the NCLEX, but to also be ready to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care.”

Throughout the program, students are exposed to computerized standardized testing and formative materials to help prepare them for taking the NCLEX exam. In addition, a strong focus has also been incorporated in recent years on ensuring The Next Gen NCLEX (NGN) preparedness is embedded throughout the curriculum.

Students in the BSN Program develop leadership and technical skills needed for a range of healthcare industry positions through real-world scenarios and scholarship from full-time, experienced nursing faculty.

“The Departments’ mission, which aligns with the Waynesburg University mission, guides our program. Our desire is to develop nurses who will transform their communities by embracing the diversity of all patients while living a life of purpose,” Dr. Zak said.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, the master's degree program in nursing and the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Waynesburg University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC, 20001, 202-887-6791. This accreditation for the BSN Program was recently granted renewal for another 10 years.

Waynesburg University was also recognized as a 2024-2025 Nursing College of Distinction by Colleges of Distinction.
