Public Relations
Become a savvy public relations professional ready to build and maintain an organization’s brand.
Learn how to plan events, write strong news releases, network with communications professionals, and run effective social media and advertising campaigns.
You’ll work closely with our award-winning student chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), which can send you to national and regional conferences and assemblies to meet the country’s top public relations professionals.
You’ll complete an internship during your coursework. Recent students have interned with Brunner Communication, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Pittsburgh Civic Light Orchestra. It’s just one of the many ways this program provides you with professional client work experience to build a portfolio that proves you have the branding knowledge and PR strategies to help an employer’s business succeed.

Through PRSSA activities, conferences, and our annual PR week, you'll get an authentic, hands-on experience in public relations. You’ll participate in agency tours, competitions, webinars, service projects, and much more. These events and experiences, coupled with coursework, enable you to build an amazing resume and portfolio to succeed after graduation.
Strengthen your degree with a Public Relations minor
Study the context and processes public relations professionals use to establish and maintain lines of communication between an organization and its audiences, while learning the practical techniques for producing public relations content and how to communicate those strategies effectively to a client.
