Knox Learning Center

Supplement your education with free tutoring services and study tables.

The Knox Learning Center is located on the lower level of Eberly Library. A gift from Martha Knox Ege in memory of her father, the Honorable John Clark Knox, federal judge and distinguished alumnus of Waynesburg University.

The Knox Learning Center (KLC) houses a computer lab, with 28 networked computers available for general student use. The KLC is also the hub for campus tutoring services.

The University provides free peer tutoring. The tutors are students who have had the course or who are currently enrolled in the course and have been recommended by the instructor. Tutoring sessions are scheduled to accommodate the schedules of both the tutors and the students being tutored

The KLC offers a variety of services to assist students in making their education successful, rewarding and exciting. Tutoring is free to students and is a proactive means toward student success.

The KLC also offers Study Table and Math Table programs. "Tables" are regularly scheduled hours whereby students have open access to general assistance in skills, development, and content areas. The KLC also offers services in English as a Second Language (ESL), study skill development, and workshops on topics such as career assessment, time management, anxiety & stress, note-taking, test-taking, etc.

The KLC resource library includes textbooks, writing manuals, practice guides, sample tests, researching information and a diversity of information on general academic preparation.

The KLC is set up to encourage students to take advantage of services which will help them maximize their learning experience. A student does not need to be doing poorly in a class to ask for a tutor. On the contrary, tutoring offers students an opportunity to process lecture notes, textbook readings, and personal perceptions. The dynamic exchange of talking with another student is a great way to learn!
