Summer 2021 Guidelines

Keep Waynesburg Well
Roberts Chapel on WU campus
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Waynesburg University has followed guidance and protocols as established by federal and state agencies.

In May, the CDC updated its COVID-19 guidance for individuals who are fully vaccinated. The Pennsylvania Department of Health subsequently released updates to the mask mandate and guidance on mitigation efforts.

The University has adapted the Keep Waynesburg Well Plan to reflect the updated guidelines of the CDC and the PA Department of Health, specifically related to protocols following full vaccination against COVID-19.

Waynesburg University Faculty & Staff:

Please review these new summer guidelines carefully, and direct specific questions on masking, work plans and schedules for summer 2021 to your supervisor. Employees should consult with their supervisors regarding details of work plans and schedules. Requests for accommodations for any of the summer 2021 guidelines or for remote work arrangements should be submitted to the Human Resources Office through the form linked below.

Health & Safety Guidelines

On May 31, Governor Wolf announced the lifting of significant COVID-19 restrictions. Following guidance from the CDC, PA DOH, and other resources, Waynesburg University will adopt the following updated safety measures, effective immediately.

According to the CDC, "people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine."

Masks and Physical Distancing

  • Fully vaccinated individuals may access outdoor spaces on campus without wearing masks or practicing physical distancing. This includes visitors to the Admissions Office for on-campus tours.
  • Fully vaccinated individuals may access indoor spaces on campus without wearing a mask or practicing physical distancing with some exceptions.
    • Masks are required when gathering in large groups (5 or more people) in classrooms, laboratories, and common areas of campus buildings.
    • All visitors and vendors should wear a mask when accessing indoor spaces on campus.
  • Those who are not fully vaccinated should continue to follow CDC guidance by practicing physical distancing measures and wearing masks at all times when accessing campus.
  • Recognizing that comfort levels differ, all individuals are welcome to continue wearing a mask indoors or outdoors regardless of vaccination status.
  • In good faith, Waynesburg University will rely on each individual to apply or indicate the appropriate standard.  Employees are asked to submit vaccination status information for purposes of tracking and tracing, testing and quarantine protocols.  Click here to submit

Daily Health Screening and Reporting

  • Regardless of vaccination status, all persons accessing campus are urged to continue to monitor their health on a daily basis to protect themselves and others.
  •  All persons accessing campus should report symptoms or known exposures to their own healthcare provider and on the WU COVID-19 Screening Form.

Visitors and Vendors

  • Visitors and vendors are welcome on campus and are expected to comply with all summer 2021 guidelines regarding masking, physical distancing, and daily health screening and reporting.
  • Regardless of vaccination status, visitors and vendors should wear a mask when accessing indoor spaces on campus.
