Joshua Sumpter

Biography
Josh Sumpter is an Assistant Professor of Biblical & Ministry Studies at Waynesburg University. Sumpter also serves in a staff capacity as the Chaplain at Waynesburg University. Before coming to Waynesburg University, he worked in the local church as a youth pastor and associate minister for 10 years in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He is an active member of the Association of Youth Ministry Educators (AYME) and the Made to Flourish Pastor's Network in the Pittsburgh region. Sumpter is also a frequent speaker to local camps and churches in the region.
In 2019, Josh Sumpter received the "Lucas-Hathaway Excellence in Introductory Subjects" Teaching Award for his work in BMS 106: Introduction to the New Testament. One faculty nomination stated, "Sumpter uses creativity to engage every student, to meet every student where they are and to present Jesus to every student in a way that they will understand."
He resides in Waynesburg, PA with his wife, Jessica, and three daughters, Adalynn, Anna and Alyson.
