Waynesburg University’s Master of Arts in Criminal Investigation (MACI) Program was ranked a “Best Online Master’s in Crime Scene Investigation” by Intelligent.com for the second consecutive year.

We continue to develop contemporary, relevant graduate courses, which are taught by high-level subject matter experts in the field of criminal investigation.”

James Tanda, director of the MACI Program

Waynesburg’s MACI Program was, again, the “Intelligent Pick,” ranked at No. 1 in the nation out of the 443 programs that were assessed across 159 colleges and universities.

“While this is a great accomplishment for any graduate program, we are particularly proud because our MACI Program is just in its sixth year,” said James Tanda, director of the MACI Program, director of security operations and emergency management, and instructor of criminal justice. “We continue to develop contemporary, relevant graduate courses, which are taught by high-level subject matter experts in the field of criminal investigation.”

Programs considered were Master of Arts, Master of Science or Master of Criminal Justice degrees in criminal investigation that are fully or primarily available online and offered by a regionally accredited school.

Intelligent.com evaluated qualified programs on the basis of cost, outcomes, reputation, flexibility and faculty, using a scoring system of 0 to 100. Waynesburg’s score was 99.17, nearly four points higher than the second ranked school.

According to information published by Intelligent.com, more than 11 federal agencies employ graduates of crime scene investigation programs, and the demand for forensic technicians are expected to rise at a faster-than-average pace through 2028. The U.S. Department of Labor Statistics estimates that this growth will translate into approximately 2,400 new jobs.

Waynesburg’s MACI degree can be completed in one year (full time) or 18 months (part time) and is fully online.

Instructors are real-life practitioners who bring real-world experiences from their respective work with local, state and federal agencies.
