Public and Applied History

As a public and applied history major, prepare to work at museums, state and local archives, the national park service, and similar places that provide the community opportunities to explore their history.
Our department’s curriculum is multi-dimensional and globally oriented. You’ll learn to think analytically, read critically, research accurately, and write professionally. Coursework includes the study of history, instruction on historical archival and research methods, and hands-on experience that immerse you into applying that knowledge to current challenges for public consumption and understanding.
