Vice President for Finance and Chief Operating Officer
Waynesburg University is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as its Vice President for Finance and Chief Operating Officer. The VP for Finance/COO will cultivate a collaborative team environment; articulate and execute the university’s strategic plan; oversee and strengthen business objectives, budget, and financial reporting; allocation of resources; analysis and projections; and institutional operations.
Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Finance and Chief Operating Officer (VP/COO) serves as a member of the executive management team. The VP/COO works collaboratively with the executive team to provide strategic guidance, long-term planning and operational leadership in support of the University’s mission and strategic themes.
THE POSITION
The VP/COO has a primary responsibility for the University’s operating and capital budget, resource allocation process, financial management, business services, operational/financial policies and procedures and operational functions of the institution.
The VP/COO is responsible for providing executive level direction and management oversight for:
- Financial planning, budgeting and budget analysis;
- Accounting and business operations, internal controls, and financial reporting and projections to year-end;
- Investments;
- Debt strategy and portfolio, including debt service payments and their budgetary impact;
- Insurance and risk management;
- Procurement and contracts;

The VP/COO reviews and monitors contractual agreements of the University, leads the budgeting and resource allocation processes, serves as staff liaison to the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Trustees, and works closely with senior leaders and key members of the community in articulating and implementing the University’s strategic plan.

Research Scientist/Postdoctoral Fellow
Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry at Waynesburg University and Dr. Tak Suyama invite applications for a Research Scientist or a Teaching Postdoctoral Fellow in bio-organic chemistry/chemical biology. We enthusiastically invite candidates who have an interest in an academic career at a primarily undergraduate institution. The position is funded by an NSF research grant and by internal funding. The position may be renewable for a second year, depending on funding. The successful candidate will lead the efforts on the project and assist in mentoring undergraduate student researchers in Dr. Suyama’s laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities
The area of research is focused on the engineering of enzymes to develop a tool for the synthesis of natural products and other medicinally useful compounds. The candidate is expected to lead the NSF-funded project in the laboratory. There will be an emphasis on mentoring and supervising undergraduate research students. In addition, depending on the candidate’s expertise and interests, maintenance of analytical instruments like LCMS and/or NMR may be a part of the responsibilities. Occasionally, the candidate may be expected to participate in the outreach activities associated with the project. The successful candidate may also teach one lab or lecture class per semester in general chemistry, non-science major chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or microbiology depending on the departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field and research experience in organic synthesis, bioorganic chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, molecular biology, genetics, or other related fields is required, a PhD is preferred.

Computer Science/Information Science Faculty Position

REPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Associate Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, and Team Physician. This individual has a recognizable responsibility for the athletic training services for varsity, junior varsity, and club sports at Waynesburg University in a professional manner at all times. The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, providing prevention and care of injuries, development and implementation of rehabilitation programs, maintaining medical records including documentation of injuries and treatments, scheduling medical appointments, sports coverage for assigned practice and games which may require travel, and assisting with administrative duties. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will teach 12 or more credit hours per semester in the areas of Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation. Student-Athlete Success Coordinator Internship
Waynesburg University is seeking applicants for the position of Student-Athlete Success Coordinator. This is a paid internship through the NCAA’s Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant Program funded for two years (2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years). Salary: $30,000 annually for 10 months plus room and board along with additional annual NCAA stipend for professional development.
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferred in Sports Administration or related field. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred. The Student Athlete Success Coordinator intern will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director. The position has a recognizable responsibility for athletic and academic administration. This person will work with the Athletic Department and Pathways Center to help coordinate and facilitate student-athlete academic success. The Pathways Center serves to provide comprehensive student support services, such as: peer tutoring and study tables, mentoring, peer leadership, disabilities services, career development, vocational exploration, Federal Work Study Program, Act 101 Educational Enrichment Program.
