WU launches flexible online degree completion program

Transfer credits accepted from prior college coursework and/or career experience

Beginning August 2019, Waynesburg University will offer an Online Degree Completion Program designed for working professionals.  Applications are currently being accepted for the 2019 fall semester.

The Online Degree Completion Program will enable students to complete their bachelor’s degree online in as little as a year, pending transfer credits. Waynesburg University will individually evaluate each applicant and prepare a comprehensive degree plan for each student.

“Waynesburg University has been a leader in adult education in the Pittsburgh region for over 20 years,” said Dr. David Mariner, director of graduate programs. “We have extensive experience in the degree completion market and are excited to offer our 100% online program to the working professionals in our region and beyond.”

The program will operate using five-week sessions through which students can focus on one course at a time.  There are nine flexible start dates throughout the year, and students can step in and step out of the program.

Students can transfer up to 90 credits from prior college coursework at a community college and/or other colleges/universities. Previous life and career experience, such as military service, professional experience, certificates and/or CLEP examinations, can also translate into credits.

This program is designed to meet the needs of the busy professional managing work, family and school.”

Dr. David Mariner, director of graduate programs

“We encourage our students to focus on one class at a time to maximize retention and enhance the learning process,” Mariner said. ”Ultimately, we are excited to help our students earn their bachelor degrees.  Led by our expert faculty, we will help our students transform their careers and maximize their ability to grow.”

Three degree options are offered through the Online Degree Completion Program: professional studies, business administration and criminal justice administration.

The flexible professional studies option makes it possible for students with prior coursework to pursue a variety of interests by designing an individual course of study. Students have the opportunity to combine courses from two or more academic disciplines to create a personalized plan that works for them.

The business administration option delivers high-quality business courses that emphasize leadership development and foster global and multicultural awareness. Students gain applied business knowledge that contributes to the advancement of business education and practice.

The criminal justice administration option provides in-depth instruction in techniques of law enforcement, security issues, corrections, substantive and procedural law, research and more.
