Waynesburg Nursing Program ranked No. 2 for second consecutive year

Matthew Stultz Feb 1, 2018

RegisteredNursing.org ranked Waynesburg University’s baccalaureate Nursing Program No. 2 in the state of Pennsylvania for the second consecutive year.

Waynesburg received a score of 97.97 out of a possible 100. Programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. Each school’s National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) current and historical pass rates were weighted heavily in the scoring.

“It is once again a great honor to be recognized as the second best nursing program in Pennsylvania,” said Dr. Kathy Stolfer, associate professor of nursing and interim chair of the nursing program. “The ongoing dedication of the nursing faculty in maintaining program standards and being committed to student learning is congruent with the University’s mission.”

Seventy-six schools were analyzed in Pennsylvania and the top 30 were ranked. Programs reviewed include schools that offer a Diploma in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Direct-Entry Master of Science in Nursing Degree.

RegisteredNursing.org’s mission is to promote excellence in nursing through enabling future nurses with the tools they need to succeed.

Waynesburg’s Nursing Program offers clinical experiences starting the first semester of the sophomore year, a state-of-the-art simulation lab and experienced faculty members. The baccalaureate program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, 202-887-6791). The Department of Nursing also offers accredited Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs.

Founded in 1849 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Waynesburg University is located on a traditional campus in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, with three additional sites located in the Pittsburgh region. The University is one of only 22 Bonner Scholar schools in the country, offering local, regional and international opportunities to touch the lives of others through service.
