Downtown Revitalization
DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION The Center for Research and Economic Development is an integral part of revitalizing downtown Waynesburg. Many of the Center’s revitalization projects are facilitated in partnership with Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful. The CRED has initiated the following actions in order to grow Waynesburg’s economy: Saturday, March 31, 2012 MONDO GIUSTO "Buy Local, Act Global" 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Marisa Fieldhouse Click here to read Observer-Reporter article March 9, 2012 the Center for Research & Economic Development was the location of the 10th Downtown Dialogue offered through the Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful Economic Restructuring Committee. Liz Menhart from the Greene County Tourism presented on the tourism grant program. August 13, 2010 the Center for Research & Economic Development hosted, in conjunction with Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful Economic Restructuring Committee, a Visual Merchandising Presentation by Rick Viglione, Western Region Coordinator from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center. Handouts included: Color Meaning, Visual Merchandising Audit Worksheet and Visual Merchandising Checklist. Destination Downtown Scavenger Hunt The CRED collaborated with Waynesburg University Student Services to create the fourth annual Destination Downtown Scavenger Hunt to welcome and familiarize students with the downtown area.
Service Learning Projects Five service learning students helped revitalize Waynesburg through their artistic abilities. Art students Amanda Tustin, Crystal Simmons, Paul Veltri, and Ed Hedderman have painted the town to encourage economic growth. These projects included painting a bakery on a vacant window, and an artistic representation of the town.
