OVERVIEW Planning a career in the Communication field? Waynesburg is the choice! Don't wait to develop your personal interests. The Communication program is not just a series of classes; it is a comprehensive, unified learning experience that includes virtually unlimited access to department facilities and internship opportunities with media outlets throughout the region. Waynesburg University students have interned with market leaders KDKA-TV and WDVE-FM in Pittsburgh; WSUA-TV in Washington, D.C.; the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins organizations; and at advertising firms, newspapers and production companies around the region. Waynesburg University communication students have helped to produce a WTAE-TV's live pre-game show prior to ABC's Monday Night Football broadcast from Three Rivers Stadium. And when the President of the United States honored the Penguins for winning the Stanley Cup, Waynesburg University students provided TV coverage from the White House Rose Garden. On campus, you will use fully equipped radio and television production facilities, and write for the Yellow Jacket, the student-produced newspaper, or a variety of publications where you can test your writing and design skills. If you are interested in electronic distance education, you can work in the interactive distance learning facility. Exciting, new portable technology has made it possible for our campus to link up via live video and audio with an audience in Russia. The fast moving world of mass communication and media production requires up-to-the-minute instruction and hands-on experience with emerging technologies. Whether your career focus is advertising, corporate video production, graphic design, print journalism, public relations or radio and television broadcasting, the Waynesburg University Communication programs provide the experience and personal guidance you will need to succeed. Students enrolled in Communication programs choose one of six options to develop an area of specialization; however, students in the program also pursue course work in the other areas. This diversity helps develop the well rounded communication background sought by prospective employers in the competitive marketplace. |
