Come visit your alma mater and celebrate Homecoming 2023 with us!

If you can't make it to Waynesburg this year, we'll have a Virtual Trivia Night via Crowdpurr on Thursday so that you can join in the festivities even from afar. 

New this year! Join us at the back gate of Wiley Stadium beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday for our Wiley Family Field Fest! The new pavilion and tent area will be open to alumni and friends from 11 until one hour after the end of the football game. Stop by for complimentary snacks, drinks, gifts, games, music, and more! You can also check out the exciting new renovations to the field and surrounding area. Be sure to stick around after the game for the dedication of the new back gate at the stadium, to be named in honor of the Reverend Dr. Donald P. Wilson ('64), University Trustee.

  • Afternoon  |  Alumni Golf at Greene County Country Club

Join your friends, teammates and classmates for an afternoon on the links at the beautiful Greene County Country Club. Call Don Chappel (’72) at 724-986-8797 to make your reservation for an afternoon tee time. Cost is $42 for 18 holes and cart rental (payable at course).

  • 6 - 9 p.m. |  All-Alumni Celebration and Combined Class Reunion at The Denny House in Waynesburg

Join us at The Denny House, located at 145 West High Street in Waynesburg, for an evening with President and Mrs. Lee, Alumni Office staff, and fellow Waynesburg alumni. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be provided, and a cash bar will be available at this open house-style event. At approximately 8 p.m., all reunion classes (grad years which end in a 3 or an 8) will be recognized in the Carriage House, and President Lee will deliver remarks, including the latest University update. We will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of President Lee's inauguration. Tours of the historic Victorian house, once owned by the family of Josephine Denny (1915), a past recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award, will also be available throughout the evening. Reservations are required!

  • 8:30 a.m.  |  27th Annual 5K Run/Walk

Check-in will take place inside the Goodwin Performing Arts Center (behind Miller Hall) beginning at 7:30 a.m. on race day. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the top of Washington Street, next to Roberts Chapel. All proceeds will benefit the Waynesburg University Student Mission Trip Fund. Click here to register online. Please note: Online registration is only available until noon on Friday, September 22, after which time you will need to register in person on the morning of the event. 

  • 10 a.m. - noon  |  Alumni Check-in at The Nest

If you arrive on campus early on Saturday, feel free to check in with us at The Nest, WU's campus store located at 84 Wayne St.! Pick up your complimentary Homecoming football game tickets, make a name tag, and browse exclusive WU merchandise in the store. Campus and museum tours will also be available at this time... stay tuned for more information on tours soon! (Please note: The Class of 1973 is NOT required to check in at The Nest, as they may do so at their 50th Reunion Brunch at the President's House at 11 a.m. Additionally, if you are celebrating a reunion year, meaning you graduated in a year ending in a 3 or an 8, you may pick up your special reunion ribbon and make a name tag at either check-in location (The Nest or Wiley Family Field Fest / back gate).

  • 10 - 11:30 a.m.  |  Nursing Alumni Reunion in Stewart 210

All Nursing alumni, both undergraduate and graduate, are invited to join fellow former classmates for a reunion reception hosted by Dr. Sherry Parsons in Stewart Science Hall room 210. Throughout the reception, Dr. Parsons, the new chairperson of the Department of Nursing, and other Nursing faculty will provide tours of the Nursing Simulation Lab to experience the new simulation mannequins. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

  • 10 - 10:15 a.m.  |  Bechtle Family Tennis Facility Dedication

Join President Lee, Alumni Office and Athletics staff, students, Scott (’73) and Kathy Bechtle, and other alumni and friends for a dedication of the University tennis courts in Scott’s honor. President Lee will unveil the new plaque, and guests can check out the recently renovated facility, which will include brand-new lighting installed during Summer 2023. (GPS Address: 4260 W. Roy Furman Highway, Waynesburg, PA, 15370; please note that the facility is approximately one-tenth of a mile past this address on the left-hand side of the road as you're coming from campus; parking is accessible through a small gravel driveway to lots beside the courts)

  • 10 - 11:30 a.m.  |  Stover Scholars Alumni Brunch in Eberly Library

All alumni of the Stover Scholars Program are invited to join fellow alumni for a complimentary brunch, hosted by Dr. Larry Stratton, in the Stover Conference Room, Eberly Library room 218. Reservations are requested. RSVP via email to Chris Schwartzmiller at cschwart@waynesburg.edu. 

  • 10:30 - Noon  |  Department of Biology, Environmental Science & Health Science and Department of Chemistry & Forensic Science Combined Reunion in Stewart 406

All Biology and Chemistry alumni are invited to join fellow former classmates for a reunion hosted by Dr. Chris Cink (Chair, Biology) and Dr. Evonne Bauldaff (Chair, Chemistry) in Stewart 406. Throughout the reception, faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science will showcase new equipment in Stewart Hall and CRED including our new GCMS, LCMS, 400MHz NMR, and microscopes for forensics applications. Faculty in the Department of Biology, Environmental Science & Health Science will be available to give tours of the labs and the Athletic Training clinic. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. 

  • 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.  |  Class of 1973 Brunch with President and Mrs. Lee at the President's House 

Members of the Class of 1973 and their guests are invited to celebrate their 50th reunion with President and Mrs. Lee at the President's House, located at 101 West College Street, directly west of Miller Hall. Reservations are required! (Please note: Brunch registrants will be able to pick up their special reunion name tag, complimentary football tickets, and free gift at the brunch and will NOT need to check in at The Nest or the field first. They may go directly to the President's House for brunch once they arrive on campus that morning.)

  • 11 a.m. - noon  |  Christian Life / Campus Ministry Brunch in Benedum Dining Hall Glass Room

Any alum who participated in a faith-based organization or was impacted by the Christ-centered mission of Waynesburg University, including Biblical & Ministry Studies majors and minors, is invited to join Chaplain Josh Sumpter for brunch in the Glass Room in Benedum Dining Hall.

Your Yellow Jackets take on the Titans at John F. Wiley Stadium! Alumni who do not check-in at the Alumni Check-in at the Nest can do so at one of the Alumni tents located at the front and back gates of the stadium beginning at 11 a.m. Additionally, the Homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime.

  • 6 p.m. (Women’s) and 8 p.m. (Men’s)  |  Soccer vs. Chatham University at Wiley Stadium

Your Yellow Jacket soccer teams cap off the weekend by hosting the Cougars at Wiley Stadium!

Campus Tours

Campus tours will be offered at the following times:

  • Friday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 23, at 10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11:30 a.m.

Please meet in Cusick Court (between Miller Hall and Hanna Hall) ten minutes before the start of the tour if interested. 

Shuttle Information

Friday Shuttle

On Friday, Sept. 22, the shuttle will run between the Denny House and the following Waynesburg hotels: Hampton Inn, Microtel, Quality Inn, Super 8, and Economy Inn. The shuttle will depart Miller Hall parking lot at 5:30 p.m., stop at each of the hotels listed, then drop off passengers at the Denny House. The shuttle then will make a second trip to each hotel listed and complete the drop off of passengers at the Denny House.

The shuttle will begin loading at 8:45 p.m. at the Denny House, drop passengers off at each hotel and at Miller lot (if needed), then return to the Denny House. The final shuttle will begin the loading approximately at 9:15 (depending on how long the first run takes) at the Denny House, drop passengers off at each hotel, then return to Miller Hall parking lot concluding the Friday evening Shuttle.

Saturday Shuttle

On Saturday, Sept. 23, the shuttle will run between campus (shuttle stop at the corner of Washington St. and College St., in front of Hanna Hall) and the front and back gates of Wiley Stadium from 11 a.m. until the conclusion of the postgame portion of Wiley Family Field Fest (approximately 5:30 p.m.).
